Búðir Iceland Wedding // Brooklyn + Caleb

Can’t believe I’m just now getting around to blogging this magical wedding.  Ok, here goes it:

When my childhood friend contacted me to photograph her wedding in Iceland I was super honored and excited to say the least.  When she mentioned it would be in a teeny tiny black church in the middle of nowhere with only 8 guests I was beyond ecstatic!  On top of that, their most special (and littlest) guest in attendance would be their 6 month old Baby, Stone.  I couldn’t think but how awesome it will be for him to see these photos when he is older since he surely won’t remember the trip.

I had been to Reykjavík several times before, but never ventured outside of the city other than the Golden Circle tours.  This trip brought me to the town of Búðir in the Snæfellsnes peninsula - a magical place where sheep are constantly running in front of your car and the rocky landscape and coastline are breathtaking.  I can’t believe I had been missing out on this special place with all my trips to Iceland!!  Truly UNREAL.
The weather in Iceland is always unpredictable and tumultuous, making it a pretty difficult place to shoot (wind and rain blowing sideways in your face/ camera), and it did indeed on their wedding day.  But we embraced the insane weather and we were able to get out and travel around the area for photos the next day.  Afterwards, my hubby and I traveled down to Vík to check out the infamous black sand beaches and also hiked to an abandoned US Navy plane wreck from the 1970s (pictured)!  But I’ll save that story and photos for a blog post all in its own ;)

This was such a special trip with these guys and their amazing family and so glad we got to experience it together.
Hope you enjoy this little snippet of shots from our time there!

Congrats again Brooklyn + Caleb.
