ENGAGEMENT SESSION GUIDE

Each session includes up to 1.5 hours at the locations of your choice! A travel fee may apply to sessions outside of the city.
In the end you'll get approximately 75+ hi-res edited images (that represent the entire shoot) via download + an online gallery to share with family and friends!

First of all, CONGRATS!!  We are very excited to capture some magical photos of you as a couple prior to your wedding day.  This is such an exciting time and we are honored to team up with you!  Please read our guide below to see what our shoots are all about and to hopefully answer any questions you may have...

What to expect:

A session with us is definitely a collaboration! The photography will reflect our work just as much as it will your openness and participation. We feel it is important for all parties to bring a good energy to the shoot in order to get great photos. That just means, have fun with it, relax and don't be too serious. Your love for one another will shine through!

Location: When couples surprise us with cool locations or somewhere meaningful to them, that is when the real magic happens. One suggestion we often make is starting the shoot in your home, because it not only gives us a more intimate understanding of you as a couple, but it is also fun to document where you were living at this special time in your life (when you got married)!  After that we can head out for to some of your favorite neighborhood spots.  Of course if you have any other ideas or if you need suggestions we are all for helping out... so let's discuss and we'll pick a great spot together!

Direction:  The best shoots always come from clients who make a conscious effort to hold hands, look at one another while walking and talking, stealing kisses without being prompted.  But don't worry, we will give you some direction when needed.  In order for us to loosen you up and get some more natural moments we will ask you to walk holding hands,  lean in for a kiss, pull in closer, get cozy, allowing us to snag some natural shots in between the any seemingly "posed" shots. If you aren't comfortable with PDA, the last thing we want to make you feel is awkward. If you're not, please just let us know ahead of time and we can discuss your comfort level and what we should avoid.  And just know that your photos may not be the super romantic kind if you aren't snuggling up.  As far as giving direction, we are very anti-cheese.  So don't worry - we won't ask you to jump, get down on bended knee or put you in awkward poses.  We like to keep it as real as possible!

Dress: A lot of couples ask what they should wear or if you they should do an outfit change.  This is totally up to you! There is nothing that looks better or worse on camera - it is just a matter of what you feel most comfortable and confident in.  If you feel like dressing up a little, then do it!  If you want to be casual, then go for that. Or both!  I think the biggest mistake for people is when they wear something totally out of the ordinary for them (makeup or otherwise) and that they immediately feel uncomfortable in.  So just do what makes you feel and look good!  Also make sure you and your partner are not wearing clashing colors or patterns and that you complement each other's style. The only thing that I try to avoid on sunny days is a solid white - it can get get blown out in the harsh sunlight and be distracting. This is also a good opportunity for a hair or makeup trial for the ladies, so feel free to schedule that on the same day!

The main purpose of this session is to get to know one another and to break the ice before the wedding day! You will be so much more relaxed after we have had the chance to work together and get to know one another on a more intimate level!  It will make the wedding day seem like a breeze.
